Embark on an extraordinary day excursion from York to Whitby. Immerse yourself in the captivating beauty of the North York Moors. Delight in the charms of the coastal town of Whitby, and traverse the picturesque landscapes aboard a classic locomotive on the renowned North Yorkshire Moors Railway*.

This is a bespoke trip for 2-7 passengers with no one else but yourself and the day is yours to do as you please.

* Please note that the steam train ticket is not included. This ticket can be purchased on the day at an additional cost (to be confirmed on the day), Those not choosing to go by train can stay in Goathland for a bit longer and travel onto pickering to meet the arrival of the steam train passengers later.

  • Helmsley

    Helmsley

    Departing York at 8:45, we will first visit Helmsley where we spend 40 mins or so exploring the little market town famous for the Yorkshire tart . Leaving Helmsley, you then travel across the heart of the North York Moors, taking in the spectacular scenery of which the moors has to offer.

    Chimney Bank

    From Helmsley, the tour will head towards Chimney bank. It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places of outstanding natural scenery overlooking the valley.

  • Whitby

    Next it's on to Whitby, stopping at the famous whitby whale bone arches before we let you off the bus at Whitby Abbey . You then have 2 hours free time to walk down the 199 steps and sample the famous fish & chips.

  • Scripps Garage, Goathland

    Goathland

    From Whitby we will depart to the village of goathland to the Village of Goathland, or you heartbeat TV fans will know it as Aidensfield. Here you can wonder around scrips garage or a quick pint in the Aidensfield arms pub.

Is the tour guaranteed to go?

We operate a minimum numbers policy on all our scheduled tours, if the tour does not meet the minimum requirement, we will be in contact to offer an alternative or a full refund. If there are adverse weather conditions which make the tour unsafe to travel then we would also cancel.

What is the group size?

The maximum group size would be 15 people on a Minibus.

Can you carry my luggage?

Due to the size of our vehicles, we are only able to carry small day sized backpacks. Larger luggage maybe carried on-board with prior arrangement, but please note this may not be possible on some services/tours, please check at time of booking.

How do you cater for people with accessibility needs?

We can cater for foldable wheelchairs and/or walkers, with advance notice. There are 3 large steps onto our minibuses.
